Cau Treo Customs coordinates to seize a passenger car transporting 100kg firecrackers

VCN – According to information from Cau Treo Customs Branch (Ha Tinh Customs Department), the unit has coordinated with competent forces to detect and arrest a passenger car transporting 100 kg of firecrackers across the province.

At 15:30 on February 15, at Xuan Mai village, Quang Diem commune, Huong Son district, Cau Treo Customs Branch coordinated with Huong Son District Police and Traffic Police Division of Ha Tinh police to stop and check a car with Laos’ license plate. This vehicle was driven by DTS, residing in Dien Chau district, Nghe An province, moving in the direction from Huong Son district to Duc Tho district with signs of transporting prohibited goods.

Through inspection, the working group discovered that the vehicle was transporting 1 carton box hidden in the trunk, containing 81 boxes of firecrackers of 36 types, with a total weight of 100 kg.

Working with the authorities, S. said that on February 13, he and Hoang Tien (was born in 1991, residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province) drove passenger vehicles from the Dien Chau district to Cau Treo international border gate to carry out exit procedures to enter Laos. After exiting the country, these two people moved to Vientiane (Laos) to drop off passengers, S. stayed at the bus station while Tien drove the car to return goods to customers. Then, at 23:00, Tien returned to pick up S. to pick up guests and return to Cau Treo international border gate to wait to carry out the procedures of entering Vietnam.

Working with competent authorities, Hoang Tien confessed that he had given money to two Laotians to help him buy the above firecrackers to bring them back to Vietnam to sell for a profit.

Currently, the working group is continuing to investigate to complete the case dossier following regulations.
