Three groups of export commodities achieved billions of USD

VCN – The result of exports is showing positive signs, especially many groups of commodities increased by over a billion USD compared to the same period in 2023.

Information about the import-export situation in the first half of April, General Department of Vietnam Customs said that in the first period of April (April 1-15), the total export turnover of the country reached US$15.03 billion, decreasing 14.3% (corresponding to a decrease of US$2.51 billion) compared to the second period of March 2024.

Export turnover in the first period of April dropped compared to the second period of March 2024 due to a decrease in many key product groups such as computers, electronic products and components, declining US$954 million (corresponding to a decline of 27.3%); phones of all types and components reduced by US$480 million (corresponding to a decrease of 19.3%); machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts decreased by US$274 million (corresponding to a drop of 13.7%); iron and steel of all kinds dropped by US$189 million (equivalent to a decrease of 37.9%); Textiles and garments decreased by US$145 million (corresponding to a reduce of 10.6%)…

However, from the beginning of the year to the end of April 15, Vietnam’s total export turnover still grew at a high rate of 15.8% (equivalent to an increase of US$14.73 billion) compared to the same period in 2023, reaching US$107.82 billion.

Notably, there are 3 product groups with turnover increasing by US$1 billion or more. The group of computers, electronic products and components is leading with an increase of US$4.83 billion (equivalent to an increase of 34.4%). From the beginning of the year to April 15, this product group had the largest turnover in the country, reaching US$18.87 billion.

Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts had the second largest increase in turnover with US$1.18 billion (equivalent to an increase of 10.3%). By April 15, this product group reached a turnover of US$12.63 billion.

Cameras, camcorders and components increased by US$1.05 billion (equivalent to an increase of 69.7%), this is the third billion-dollar growing product group in the country. Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to April 15, this product group reached a turnover of US$2.55 billion.
