The Customs sector collected more than VND 88 trillion in revenue in the first quarter of 2024

VCN – The Customs sector’s revenue collection results in March increased compared to the previous month, but in general, the result of the first quarter dropped compared to the same period last year.

According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, revenue from import-export activities in March reached VND 31,935 billion, an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous month.

In the first quarter of 2024, the Customs sector’s budget revenue reached 88,354 billion VND, equal to 26.3% of the assigned estimate, down 4.2% over the same period last year.

Regarding the import-export situation, export turnover in March is estimated at US$34.01 billion, an increase of 37.8% (equivalent to an increase of US$9.32 billion) compared to the previous month, imports are estimated at US$31.08 billion, rising 33.4% (equivalent to an increase of US$7.78 billion).

Thus, the total import-export turnover in March is estimated at US$65.09 billion, an increase of 35.6% (equivalent to an increase of US$17.1 billion) compared to the previous month, the trade balance is estimated at US$2.93 billion.

Accumulated in the first 3 months of 2024, total export turnover is estimated to reach US$93.06 billion, growing 17% (equivalent to an increase of US$13.51 billion) compared to the same period last year, imports are estimated to reach US$84.98 billion, rising 13.9% (equivalent to an increase of US$10.35 billion).

In the first quarter, total import-export turnover was estimated at US$178.04 billion, an increase of 15.5% (equivalent to an increase of US$23.86 billion) compared to last year. The trade balance in the first 3 months of 2024 is estimated to be a trade surplus of US$8.08 billion.
