VCN – On March 11, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department ( General Department of Vietnam Customs) held a virtual meeting with departments in the whole Customs industry to publicize and develop contents on digital transformation, contributing to the digital transformation of the whole customs industry.

At the meeting, Director of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department Nguyen Hung Anh said that the Customs sector promotes digital transformation. This is not only a trend but also an important factor to improve efficiency, transparency and ensure security in trade promotion and border management activities.

Digital transformation in the Customs industry not only applies new technology but also restructures processes and information systems to optimize inspection, customs clearance and goods supervision processes.

Through the application of advanced information systems and technologies such as AI artificial intelligence (AI), Blockchain and Big data, helping to enhance the ability to verify, monitor and evaluate risk pricing of goods, and minimizing problems related to fraud, smuggling and counterfeit goods.

In anti-smuggling and investigation, the digital transformation aims to collect, analyze and share information related to smuggling activities. This includes the use of data analytics tools to detect smuggling trends and methods as well as use electronic communication systems to cooperate with international and local agencies in sharing information and implementing anti-smuggling measures.

Following the GDVC’s digital transformation plan, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department focus on key contents such as: digitalizing paper documents and data into electronic data. Data needs to be standardized and cataloged to serve as input information for the operational problems of the Department.

The department builds, completes and deploys its professional problems inline with the overall plan of the Customs sector.

“The department leaders request units to conduct research and provide comments on the Department’s draft Digital Transformation plan for 2024-2025 and professional problems. It is necessary to focus on building and giving opinions on specific problems and professional processes of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department”, Director Nguyen Hung Anh said.
