VCN – According to the Customs News, the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department leader under the General Department of Customs has signed Decision 01/QD-DTCBL on the criminal prosecution of smuggling crime for N.Q Co., Ltd (Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province).

According to the document, on August 17 and 18, 2021, at a warehouse in Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, the Northern Anti-Smuggling Control Team (the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department) coordinated with the Northern Hanoi Customs Branch (Hanoi Customs Department) to inspect the goods belonging to two declarations with suspicious signs.
The goods were transported on a flight from India to Noi Bai International Airport on August 13 and August 15, 2021.
On August 13 and 17, 2021, N.Q Co., Ltd. opened two customs declarations to carry out import procedures for the above shipment.
According to the customs declarations, the goods were declared as samples and supplementary foods. Of which, one declaration was opened under the non-commercial type; the other was opened according to the import type for consumption business
However, through the inspection, the Customs seized nearly 1,500 boxes of Favipiravir Tablets, which are Covid-19 treatment medicine that has not been licensed for circulation in Vietnam, with a total value of more than VND2.6 billion.
After the investigation process, on March 9, 2023, the leader of the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department signed Decision 01/QD-DTCBL to prosecute a criminal case of smuggling against N.Q. Co., Ltd.

On March 14, 2023, the Supreme People’s Procuracy issued Decision 2759/QD-VKSTC-V3 to transfer the above case to the Investigation Police Agency (Nam Dinh Provincial Police) for further investigation according to its competence.
