According to statistics, 22 customs brokers in the province have been authorized by the General Department of Vietnam Customs with the role of connecting Customs and import and export enterprises.

However, the operation of the customs brokers has not been effective, so about 50-70 individuals have been implementing customs declaration services for importers and exporters with low service fees.

Meanwhile, there are only verbal contracts between the goods owner and the individual broker and have no binding terms between the two parties, so this poses risks.

In order to strengthen the management of customs brokers in the province, the local government has asked Lang Son Tax Department to actively disseminate and encourage business households and individuals to use services performed by the licensed Customs brokers.

The local tax authority has been required to coordinate with the local customs department to grasp the list of individual customs brokers for strict management; strengthen inspection for the declaration, finalization and deduction of Personal Income Tax and the compliance with the law of the individual customs brokers.

The local government has also requested Lang Son Customs Department to closely control the individual and institutional customs brokers in the province. Especially, the local customs department needs to encourage goods owners to use services implemented by legal customs brokers for exported fruit and agricultural products.

Speaking to Customs News, the Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department said the department has directed local customs branches to execute regulations related to customs services and strictly control officers performing procedures to complete the tasks, facilities and reduce costs for importers and exporters.

This is a solution to eliminate the customs services performed by individual customs brokers to improve the operational efficiency of licensed customs brokers, protect the interests of enterprises, and contribute to creating favorable conditions for import and export activities in Lang Son province.
