Hai Phong Customs earns VND6 688 billion in tax revenue in January

VCN – Tax revenue in the northern port city of Hai Phong surged by 33.66% year-on-year to VND6,688 billion in January, meeting 10.51% of the target set by the Ministry of Finance and 9.75% of the target assigned by the local government, said customs authorities.

Local customs officials are in charge of four regions – Hai Phong and the neighboring provinces of Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Thai Binh.

In Hai Phong alone, they collected VND5,632 billion worth of tariffs, a rise of 27.37% compared with the previous year. The figure reached up to 10.07% of the target by the Ministry of Finance and 9.39% of the target by the local government.

In January, total trade by port rose by 23.1%year-on-year to nearly US$9.54 billion.

According to the report, the city shipped goods overseas worth around US$4.63 billion, up 23.2%; taxable export turnover worth US$47.31 million, up 210.8% from a year earlier.

The city spent some US$4.9 billion on imports and taxable export turnover was worth US$1,900.74 million, up 23.2% and 24.6%, respectively from a year earlier.

In 2021, the department’s revenue saw a year-on-year increase by 21.4% or VND11,694 billion to VND66,362 billion, meeting 109.7% of the annual target set by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

In Hai Phong alone, the department collected VND57,861 billion worth of tariffs, an increase of 21.2% or VND10,136 billion compared with a year ago. The figure reached up to 110.2% of the target by the General Department of Vietnam Customs and 109.2% of the target by the local government.

The revenue of three provinces (Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh) rose 22.4% to VND8,501 billion year-on-year, meeting 130.8% of the target set by the Ministry of Finance and 106.3% of the target set by the country’s customs department.
