Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs implements a program to support overseas nationals returning home to celebrate Tet

VCN – With over 200 flights entering and leaving each day during the peak period before, during and after the Lunar New Year, the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch has coordinated with the units to organise a program to support overseas nationals returning home to celebrate Tet.

These days, at the international terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport, overseas Vietnamese returning home, the elderly, pregnant women and children will be guided and supported by a volunteer team from the Youth Union of Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs, Police, airport and airport authority through the separate door.

According to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch, this year’s Tet, entry guests, especially overseas Vietnamese returning home to celebrate Tet, will increase after a 3-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Captain Le Minh Tung of luggage procedure team said that during the peak current Tet holiday, there would be 110-120 flights on entry every day, with over 20,000 people in total.

To facilitate the procedures for passengers on entry and exit, this year, the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat International Airport actively assigned the Youth Union of the branch to coordinate with the Youth Union of the units, such as Tan Son Nhat Airport Border Gate Police, Southern Airport Authority and Tan Son Nhat International Airport, together organise a program to support overseas Vietnamese to return home for the Lunar New Year 2023.

The volunteer team of the Youth Union of Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs will coordinate with the units to hang banners, and set up instruction boards and support desks at 2 areas of departure and arrival terminals, operating from Now until February 16, 2023. Airline passengers are prioritised for support, including Vietnamese expatriates, the elderly, pregnant women and children.

With the task of leading the implementation of the program, customs officers will assist passengers in receiving, answering questions, guiding and supporting procedures for luggage of people on exit or entry, supporting in declaring customs declarations for goods and luggage of people on exit or entry; coordinating with ground units in supporting luggage, assisting in passenger’s luggage areas.

The border police will assist in receiving, answering questions, guiding and supporting expatriates and passengers on exit and entry procedures; supporting declarations related to visa procedures at the gate; guiding and disseminating legal information on immigration, culture, declaration of temporary residence during the period of overseas Vietnamese and temporary residents in Vietnam.

Port authorities and airports will support traffic information and pick-up points; coordinate and change the flow of passengers and vehicles to avoid congestion at the port.

The above meaningful program of Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch and other coordinating units has contributed to helping passengers complete immigration procedures quickly during the peak days when the number of arrivals increases highly before Tet and exits after Tet, recognised and appreciated by passengers.
