The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/1/2022) of January-2022, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 12.96 billion and imports of US dollars 14.6 billion resulted in a trade deficit of US dollars 1.64 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of January was US dollars 27.55 billion, down by 20.7% as compared to the second half of December-2021 but up by 5.1% as compared to the same period of 2021
In the view of FDI traders, in the first half of January, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went down by 19.5% to US dollar 18.74 billion as compared to the same period of 2021.
Export:
When compared with the second half of December-2021, export of first half of January decreased by 30.6%, mostly as a result of the downturn registered in computer electrical products and part thereofs (down by 43.5% – USD 1.21 billion); telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 39.5% – USD 1.2 billion); machine, tools and equipments (down by 42.2% – USD 1 billion); textiles and garments (down by 28.5% – USD 576 million).

Imports of the first half of January down by 9.2% as compared the second half of November, mainly reflecting the downturn in pharmaceutical products (down by 68.9% – USD 249 millions); telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 16.1% – USD 178 million), crude oil (down by 51.5% – USD 162 millions)…
