Lao Cai Customs clears 263 vehicles on first day China resumes customs clearance

On January 8, the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch cleared 263 vehicles carrying import and export goods across Kim Thanh International Border Gate No. II, including 80 import vehicles and 183 export vehicles. The import and export goods mainly are agricultural products.

In addition, the branch processed 474 passengers for exit and entry.

“However, the Chinese Government has not allowed drivers of the two countries to transport imports and exports across Kim Thanh International Border Gate No. II to each other’s territories.

“The goods transportation is still implemented under the transshipment plan as in the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control period. Hopefully, the Chinese side will soon allow the drivers of each side to exit and entry to expedite customs clearance” the branch’s leader said.

Ffter receiving notification from the Chinese side about the resumption of import and export, exit and entry activities across the area, on January 4, 2023 the leader of Lao Cai Customs Department requested customs branches and Customs Enforcement Team to inspect and review their facilities and assign officers to perform customs processes; effectively implement customs control and inspection for imports and exports, means of transport on exit and entry, create favorable conditions for cross-border trade, and report difficulties and problems (if any).

In addition, the leader also asked units grasp information about import-export and immigration activities of the government of Hekou district (Yunnan province, China), regularly discuss with local government to control the border gate and prevent smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across border gates.
