In the first nine months of the year, HCM City Customs Department has classified declaration channels to issue a decision on customs inspection for over 2.361 million import and export declarations. Of which 2,517,584 declarations of goods were classified into the Green channel, 864,364 declarations were classified into the Yellow channel, and 145,132 declarations were classified into the Red channel.
The Department checked and cleared the goods promptly from the results of the classification of declarations. Notably, the Department screened 18,877 goods containers before customs clearance. Of which 68 containers have not been issued the scanning results, 18,809 containers have been issued the results. Customs detected 547 containers with suspicious signs through screening, accounting for 2.91%.
To promote the effectiveness of the inspection, the Department directed specialized units to increase the screening rate to ensure strict control of import and export goods while facilitating and shortening the customs clearance time.
According to the Department, the screening has a deterrent effect on businesses at high risk of violation because when the list of scanned containers is published on the General Department of Vietnam Customs website, the businesses may declare accurately and comply with the law better.
