According to Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, although import and export goods through Ho Chi Minh City border gates in the third quarter of 2021 plunged year-on-year due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the import and exports in past months rose.
From early to October 13, 2021, HCM City Customs carried out customs clearance for over 2.4 million import and export declarations, with a total value of goods over US$102 billion, up 4.48% year-on-year.
Of which, the exports slightly decreased 0.88% to US$44 billion while imports rose 8.9% to US$58.7 billion year-on-year.

Thus, the trade balance of goods in Ho Chi Minh City between January and October had a trade deficit of over US$14.6 billion.
