In the first quarter of the year, HCM City Customs Department refunded VAT on goods worth VND295.5 billion carried by foreigners and overseas Vietnamese on exit.
Accordingly, 3,290 passengers have been refunded VAT worth about VND 24 billion. Goods eligible for a tax refund included: clothing, shoes, bags, cosmetics, and watches.
The Department said that from the end of 2022, immigration activities have been restored. As a result, the quantity of passengers’ goods eligible for VAT refund also increase. As a result, the next month is higher than the previous month. It is expected that shortly, the number of international visitors to Vietnam will continue to surge, which will lead to an increase in tourists’ shopping activities.
