April 11, a representative of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch said that in the first quarter of the year, total import and export turnover reached about VND 186 million, of which the export turnover and import turnover increased by 90.1% and 15.2% to US$ 92.4 million and US$ 93.2 million compared with the previous year, respectively.

Notably, agricultural products are still the main export products, with an export turnover of US$ 71 million, up 63.2% compared with 2022, accounting for 76.8% of total export turnover.

The main export items are dragon fruit, banana, rambutan, watermelon, cassava, and durian; in which, dragon fruit products accounted for the largest volume with nearly 33,689 tons and a total turnover of US$24.2 million.

Although the turnover roses, it results from agricultural products that are non-taxable products. Therefore, the branch’s revenue in this quarter only reached VND 109.6 billion, meeting 11.8% of the target.
