VCN – Dong Thap Customs Department has detected a motorboat transporting wood from Cambodia to Vietnam and seized a large volume of smuggled wood.

According to Dong Thap Customs Department, the working team, including Thuong Phuoc Border Gate Customs Branch, the Customs Enforcement Team (under Dong Thap Customs Department), and the Police of Thuong Thoi Hau A commune implemented a patrol by canoe along the So Thuong River route in Thuong Thoi Hau A commune, Hong Ngu district, Dong Thap province and discovered a motorboat suspected of transporting contraband goods.
When seeing the working team, the motorboat operator speeded up, drove to the Vietnamese seashore, and left the vehicle and infringing goods in the Ca Sach Market area to escape. Although the working team has been notified to find the owner of the motorboat, no one has come to receive the goods and the vehicle. Therefore, the team seized the goods and the motorboat at the So Thuong Border Gate Customs Branch.
Through an inspection, the Customs detected 42 bars of smuggled sawn timber and 11 rounded logs.
All these goods were transported by smugglers from Cambodia to Vietnam for consumption.
The case is under investigation for handling.
