According to the leader of the Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Team (Team 5, Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Customs), during the time around the Lunar New Year of the Tiger in 2022 and under the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, the forces and local authorities strictly controlled people and means of transport. Illegal trafficking of narcotics in the area of customs operations was less complicated but posed many potential risks.
Under the drastic direction of leaders at all levels, the Customs force actively worked with other authorities to handle criminals, especially drug-related crimes before, during and after the Lunar New Year.
In which, the authorities focused on raising vigilance, proactively implemented drastic measures; strengthened patrol on key routes and areas; promptly exchanged information, closely coordinated with drug prevention and control units to detect, establish special cases and successfully dismantle cases of illegal drug trafficking.
As a result, in the period before and during Tet, the Customs force presided over and coordinated with other forces to handle 24 cases with 30 suspects.
Exhibits seized included 11.4kg of heroin; 34.4kg and 56,144 synthetic drug tablets; 13kg of ketamine; 0.5kg of opium and 160 psychotropic clonazepam tablets.
Typically was the seizure of 20 packages of heroin (about 7kg) in Thai Nguyen of the Police, Customs, and Coast Guard just before the Lunar New Year. This case was praised by the leader of the Ministry of Public Security.
The Customs force in coordination with the Police and Border Guard forces arrested a person who illegally brought 30,000 tablets of synthetic drugs from Lao to Nghe An and then sent them to the northern provinces for consumption in mid-January 2022.

“In order to catch the suspect, the Special Board mobilized nearly 30 officers and soldiers. Currently, the case is being handled,” said the leader of Team 5.
