Preliminary statistics show that, by the end of July 16, the total turnover of import and export goods across Lang Son province increased by 28.61% year-on-year to US$ 31,815.3 million. Of which, the turnover of imports and exports at Lang Son Customs Department rose 10% year-on-year to US$2,722 million.
Statistics from the Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board show that currently, Huu Nghi International Border Gate is one of the border gates with the biggest trade activities in Lang Son province. The Customs and Border Guard forces at Huu Nghi International Border Gate process customs clearance for over 800 vehicles transporting import and export goods on average per day. Talking to Customs News, a representative of Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department) said that from the beginning of the year, the customs clearance across the area has become increasingly lively, the volume of imports and exports has grown. Notably, during the agricultural harvest season (April and May), the quantity of products exported from Vietnam to the Chinese market surged.
At Tan Thanh Border Gate, Tan Thanh Customs Branch has welcomed and processed procedures for more than 1,150 registered businesses. The number of registered businesses increased about 400 firms compared with the same period in 2023. Notably, the revenue across the area managed by Tan Thanh Customs Branch has achieved positive results, far beyond expectations.
Director of Lang Son Customs Department Nguyen Hong Linh said that the Department directed border gate customs branches to take measures to improve the efficiency of customs clearance and facilitate trade for importers and exporters. The department also requested the branches to actively remove difficulties and problems for enterprises, thereby creating a healthy business environment and preventing revenue loss; set up working groups to work directly at large corporations and enterprises in the area to provide effective solutions to improve the business investment environment and boost import and export activities.
As of July 16, Lang Son Customs Department has collected VND3,826.43 billion, increasing by 41.17% over the same period in 2023, meeting 76.53% of the revenue target. Notably, the revenue collected by Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch accounted for 75% of the whole department’s revenue at VND3,128.9 billion; Chi Ma Border Gate Customs Branch at VND381.7 billion, Tan Thanh Customs Branch at VND234.6 billion…
In addition, Lang Son Customs has actively coordinated with relevant enforcement authorities to collect fees for using border gate infrastructure at VND318 billion for 249,175 vehicles.
According to Director Nguyen Hong Linh, from now until the end of the year, the department requires border gate customs branches and divisions to review, inspect and instruct businesses to comply with regulations on declaration of name and code for items that have high tax rates and large turnover and are regularly gone through import and export procedures, at the customs clearance and post-clearance audit processes.
The department requests the branches to regularly check and review data on the system, identify suspicious signs, conduct customs rulings or post-clearance audit for cases that the declared value shows suspicious signs compared with database on customs value.
The branches are required to regularly review and contact representatives of enterprises that contribute high turnover and revenue to the state budget, to grasp information and status and plans of import and export activities, and promptly resolve difficulties and problems.
In addition, Lang Son Customs Department will also actively cooperate with the local government to strengthen negotiations and exchanges with authorities in Guangxi (China) to unify solutions to create maximum favorable conditions for customs clearance of import and export goods across border gates in Lang Son province; negotiate with the Chinese side to soon resume customs clearance at subordinate border gates in the province to improve the capacity of customs clearance.
