Regarding the key work results for the first six months of 2024, Deputy Director of Hanoi Customs Department Hoang Quoc Quang said that by the end of June 30, 2024, the total state revenue of Hanoi Customs Department reached VND 14,950 billion, equivalent to 44.5% of the plan and equal to105.34% compared to the same period in 2023.

The result of revenue collection has not reached a high ratio due to a decrease of a number of key items with large revenue tax, and the impact of the economic recession, especially a sharp drop in imports of complete automobiles…

In the face of this problem, the Party Committee and the collective leadership of Hanoi Customs Department have built a plan, directed and implemented decisively, synchronously various solutions and closely follow the production and business plans of enterprises with large tax revenue, determined to complete the task of collecting revenue in 2024.

Regarding the work of combating smuggling and drugs, the leadership of Hanoi Customs Department said that, identifying the complicated situation of smuggling, trade fraud, and drugs in the area with many sophisticated and unpredictable tricks, especially routes and key areas, right from the beginning of 2024, Hanoi Customs Department has directed decisively and synchronously launched many solutions in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and drug prevention.

In the first 6 months of the year, the unit has detected and seized 8 smuggling cases, with exhibits including electronic cigarettes, gold, foreign currency, guns… prosecuted 4 cases, transferring 2 cases to the police for prosecution.

In particular, Hanoi Customs Department has detected 43 cases of illegal transportation of drug, deployed 5 special projects; seized about 539 kg of various types of drugs; coordinated the arrest of 19 subjects. The cases are being further processed and handed over to the police.

In the work of modernization reform, Deputy Director Hoang Quoc Quang said that right from the beginning of 2024, Hanoi Customs Department has focused on directing the work of modernization reform, applying information technology and deploying digital transformation plans and modernization reform plans; continue to deploy automatic monitoring systems at ICDs, concentrated inspection locations; complete and improve the efficiency of the National Single Window System and the Automated Monitoring System at Noi Bai.

It is worth noting that Hanoi Customs Department has completed and deployed passenger on exit and entry management software, with the aim of managing and exploiting information on passengers and luggage entering and leaving the country by flight daily. Thereby, monitoring and warning key subjects, connecting screening images, analyzing and identifying key subjects to improve the effectiveness of customs inspection and supervision.

At the same time, the unit also completed the construction of software for managing concentrated inspection locations. This software is linked to the characteristics and practical management of Hanoi Customs Department. The goal is to connect unified business data between the department and its branches to serve management and operation.

Manage the screening and actual inspection process, connect instructions from the department to the branches for declaration information, screening images, monitor and clear the implementation of screening instructions from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

In addition, in the first 6 months of the year, post-clearance audit has also achieved outstanding results. Hanoi Customs Department has focused on inspecting based on signs, topics, towards compliance, facilitating businesses and rectifying clearance at branches. The results showed 80 post-clearance audit at the business headquarters and the headquarters of the Customs Department, detecting 69 violations, accounting for 86%. The total amount of money paid to the state budget through post-clearance inspection is VND 120 billion.

At the meeting, representatives of Hanoi Customs Department also recommended issues related to the equipment and repair of scanning machines; about the information technology system and equipment; as well as the unit managing and operating container screening machines. At the same time, raise some comments on the proposed amendments and supplements to the Customs Law.
