Hai Phong Port strengthen solutions to improve cargo handling capacity

In April 2024, the volume of goods through the Hai Phong area reached 9.212 million tons (equivalent to the previous month and up 10.5% over the same period last year). In particular, cargo container reached 594,252 Teus (declining 3.4% compared to March but rising 16.8% over the same period in 2023); non-containerized goods reached 2,012 million tons (increasing 6.9% compared to March and growing 8.7% over the same period in 2023).

Notably, the competition for seaport services in Hai Phong area continues to be intensive, especially for import and export containers.

As the enterprise with the largest market share in the area, Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company continues to deploy synchronous and flexible solutions in work areas, closely following the actual situation, especially promoting market work and optimizing exploitation activities.

In particular, Tan Vu Port Branch (Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company) strengthens to direct the yard and wharf planning, arranges equipment and facilities, and improves loading and unloading productivity to release ships on time.

Loading and unloading productivity has been improved, reaching an average of 66 moves/h. The rate of using the automatic gate delivery system (Smart gate) reached 100%, the time for vehicles to pass through the port gate is only 10-15 seconds.

In particular, the volume of ships transporting imported automobiles at Tan Vu port reached 7,025 vehicles, an increase of 1,021 vehicles compared to the previous month.

For non-container goods, Hoang Dieu Port (Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company) strives to follow the market and increase initiative in marketing closely.

In the first 4 months of the year, the market has recovered, volume of goods of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company increased sharply (an increase of 44.2% over the same period in 2023).

In April, the Company’s production and business targets met and exceeded the plan, especially revenue and profit targets.

Specifical, consolidated output reached 3.693 million tons, reaching 110.4% of the plan (container goods were 167,100 Teus, reaching 106.4% of the plan); consolidated revenue is VND 216.5 billion, reaching 108.7% of the plan; consolidated profit is VND 75.6 billion, reaching 113.7% of the plan.

The cargo market share of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company in April recorded an increase of 2% over the same period and an increase of 3.3% compared to March 2024.

The Company’s entire port system receives and operates 163 ships, including 93 container ships.

Besides business activities, Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company focuses on implementing the investment project to build two container terminals No. 3 and 4 at Lach Huyen International Gateway port area, Hai Phong province.

By the end of April, the total construction volume of the installation package had reached about 80%, of which the main items were 2 wharves that the construction unit had completed.

The contractor is actively mobilizing human resources and equipment for the remaining items, including barge wharf and ground treatment, striving to put into operation wharf number 3 in the first quarter of 2025 and complete the entire project in the fourth quarter of 2025.
