VCN- Nam Can International Border Gate Customs Branch under Nghe An Customs Department coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces in tackling a transnational drug trafficking ring and seizing a large number of drugs, the customs announced.

On February 5, competent forces arrested Gia Xai Phia, 46, residing in Ky Son District for illegal drug transportation.

At the scene, the competent forces seized two packages of heroin, 6,000 tablets of synthetic drugs, three kilos of Ketamine and a knife.

The branch’s representative said the working team detected a ring with suspicious signs of illegally transporting drugs from Laos to Ky Son District for consumption.

The competent forces made a special plan to tackle the drug trafficking ring. Many experienced officers were mobilized to participate in the plan. From January 29 to February 5, dozens of officers monitored the area and movement of suspects.

They received information that some suspects transported a large volume of drugs to Ky Son District for consumption in the Lunar New Year.

On February 5, the forces tackled the ring.

Currently, the competent forces are coordinating with other agencies for further investigation.
