At the 14th virtual cooperation conference between Vietnam Customs and Chinese Customs on anti-smuggling on December 28, Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department Vu Tuan Binh proposed Nanning Customs Department direct border gate units to coordinate with Vietnam Customs branch to resolve problems in operating and managing imports and exports to prevent the pandemic while ensuring trade facilitation and removing goods congestion as soon as possible.

“Vietnam’s Customs asked Nanning Customs to facilitate customs clearance for Vietnam’s exported agricultural and fishery products to shorten clearance time, especially those that have been tested and quarantined by Chinese authorities,” Deputy Director Vu Tuan Binh said.

To facilitate import and export activities between the two sides, the leader of Lang Son Customs Department suggested that Nanning Customs promptly exchange and update new policies related to Chinese customs management, which will take effect from 2022 (if any) for customs management and anti-smuggling of Vietnam Customs.

As of December 24, over 2,043 vehicles carrying exported goods, mainly agricultural products, were got stuck at the border gate, Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department said at the conference to review performance in 2021 and develop tasks in 2022 held by the GDVC.

Currently, about 78 to 90 vehicles have been cleared per day. With the current customs clearance capacity, from now to the Lunar New Year, Lang Son may not clear all goods at the border gate.
